Topic: An Excellent Life (2)
Text: Ephesians 3:20
Ephesians 3:20
“Now to Him who is able to do exceedingly abundantly above all that we ask or think, according to the power that works in us.” [NKJV]
As Christians, God has deposited the spirit of excellence in our lives, and therefore, excellence is our second nature and not a struggle or afterthought.
The Bible text tells us that we are able to achieve more than we can even ask or think of because of the mighty power of God in our lives. In simple terms, this means that the things we thought we could not do because of certain physical, economical or environmental challenges are now possibilities, and we can do them effortlessly.
Furthermore, what this tells us is that there is no limitation for us as children of God. Therefore, we can lead excellent lives. The disciples of Jesus witnessed and performed great miracles because of the presence of Jesus amidst them. It can be inferred that whatever we associate ourselves with determines the outcomes we see in our lives. Therefore, if expectedly, as Christians, we allow God to take the front seat in our lives, we can be rest assured of an excellent life.
In conclusion, we can only do excellent things that defy our current limitations through God alone. This is because God is beyond limitations and can do mighty and wondrous things in our lives. With God, all things are possible.
Lesson for the day:
God works powerfully within us
Prayer Point:
Lord, help me to lead an excellent life, the one that surpasses all limitations.
Hymn for the day:
1. Marvelous grace of our loving Lord,
Grace that exceeds our sin and our guilt!
Yonder on Calvary’s mount outpoured,
There where the blood of the Lamb was spilled.
Refrain:
Grace, grace, God’s grace,
Grace that will pardon and cleanse within;
Grace, grace, God’s grace,
Grace that is greater than all our sin!
2. Sin and despair, like the sea waves cold,
Threaten the soul with infinite loss;
Grace that is greater, yes, grace untold,
Points to the refuge, the mighty cross.
3. Dark is the stain that we cannot hide;
What can we do to wash it away?
Look! There is flowing a crimson tide,
Brighter than snow you may be today.
4. Marvelous, infinite, matchless grace,
Freely bestowed on all who believe!
You that are longing to see His face,
Will you this moment His grace receive?
Bible round the year:
